Some outraged Takoradi citizens have dismissed accusations from the Ghana Police Service that Josephine Panyin Mensah, 29, faked her pregnancy and was kidnapped.
They were also upset about Josephine’s mother, husband, and another individual being arrested as collaborators in the purported self-kidnapping case.
Neighbors of the victim, who has now been deemed a suspect, yelled war songs and cursed the authorities for making such charges, dressed in red.
The victim was never pregnant, according to a statement released by the police earlier today.
According to the police, the victim may have plotted with others to stage the entire scenario, according to their preliminary investigation.

However, residents of Sekondi who spoke to JoyNews’ Western Regional Correspondent, Ina-Thalia Quansah, claimed Josephine was nearly nine months pregnant when she mysteriously vanished.
The police have not visited the neighborhood as part of their inquiry, they claim.
“When Josephine vanished, we took the proper steps and reported the issue to the appropriate authorities, requesting their assistance. However, now that she has been discovered, they are seeking to accuse her of lying.
“…I’m confident that God in Heaven is aware of her pregnancy. God was with her for the entire six days she was missing, and He will undoubtedly intervene this time as well,” a local told JoyNews.
