Residents in Bimbilla threaten to protest death of indigene

Residents of Bimbila, Nanumba North Municipality, Northern Region, have gathered and threatened to demonstrate.

This comes after a local was alleged to be shot and killed by the military, according to the residents.

According to a neighbor who only went by the name Abdulai, the man was riding his motorcycle when he was shot by a soldier.

He was shot in the stomach but died later at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after being transferred from the Bimbila hospital.

Despite the fact that Mr. Abdulai is unable to say what caused the shooting that resulted in the man’s death, he insists that there is military presence around the community.

Residents are continuing to congregate, he said, fearful that the situation may worsen.
