Nii Ponponsuo, who was seen brandishing a pump-action gun in a popular video on social media, has been apprehended by the police.
In the viral video, the suspect can be seen loading ammunition into the pump-action rifle and making menacing remarks. On November 24, 2021, he is scheduled to appear in court.
The suspect was detained on November 22, 2021, after the Police Intelligence Directorate launched a special exercise that led to his detention, according to a Facebook post by the Ghana Police Service.
“The Police, after reviewing the video conducted a special exercise that led to the suspect’s arrest from his hideout. A search conducted led to the retrieval of one 12 bore SB pump-action gun,” the Facebook post stated.
The Service warned the general public, particularly those with a tendency for displaying weapons and uttering threats, to refrain from such illegal behavior.
