Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister, has denied ordering the region’s metropolitan, municipal, and district assemblies (MMDAs) to contribute to the final funeral rites of his late father, Nana Boanyina Adusei II. A memo circulating on social media asking MMDAs to give money for the burial, according to him, is a hoax.
“I’ve seen the memo circulating. Nothing like that has been written and presented to me, as far as I can tell. Because all of my letters are sealed, there is no seal on this one. It’s obviously phony and deceptive. In an interview with Asaase Radio, Mr Darko-Mensah remarked, “I’ve requested them to look into it.”
“I’ve never made such a request. “It is untrue,” the minister stated emphatically.

The Western Regional Coordinating Council issued a press statement urging the MMDAs to dismiss the letter because it lacked a mark of approval.
The announcement stated, “The Hon. Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-attention Mensah’s has been directed to a letter dated 15th September 2021 on the above subject matter.”
“He has not directed any of the Hon. Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCES) to make a payment in support of his father’s or any other funeral.”
