In the last round of matches in the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League, an unfortunate news of an alleged match fixing broke out after the Ashgold and Inter Allies match. The match ended 7-0 against Inter Allies with the Inter Allies captain scoring two own goals with the other 5 goals looking dubious. After the match, sport journalists and football fans across the nation reacted to the results.
The Captain of Inter Allies revealed after the match that, before the match, he was hearing news around the team hotel of the match ending 5-1 and when the scores was 5-0 against his team, he told his technical bench to be brought on to foil the plans of the match as he is a Muslim and can’t condone wrongdoing.

Sir Jonas tweeted, “Ghana FA has started investigations into the AshGold vs Inter Allies match fixing allegations”. KOFI LAMAR added, “Ghana’s football is corrupt to the core. Eiii. Match fixing this.”
Sadick Adams added, “When Ashgold played King Faisal in that 5-1 thriller, a Betting Company sent me a report of the match being fixed. At least 3 numbers each staked 10,000 cedis on correct score 2 hours before the game. Numbers were traced and they were persons closer to Ashgold. I sent this intel to a powerful GFA official. Hinted King Faisal about it. Match happened and same scoreline came to pass. I don’t want to say much but this is a cartel. The Inter Allies player just lifted a lid of boiling mess.”
