A 31-year-old man is being held by the police for attempting to make a mobile money (MoMo) transaction with ‘fake’ currency.
Kwabena Seth, the culprit, was apprehended during a heated dispute with the villagers on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
He was turned over to the Adiebeba Police Station for further investigation.
Foster Frimpong, a Mobile Money (MoMo) operator, stated the suspect approached him to transfer GH1,000 in fake currency notes.
A review of the bills indicated that seven of the GH100 cash notes were ‘fake,’ according to him.
He raised the alarm, which drew eyewitnesses to the scene, who asked for the notes to be authenticated, which they were.
The suspect attempted to flee, but was apprehended and turned over to Atinka Junction police, who are currently investigating the incident.
Following his arrest, the suspect was also found to be in possession of unidentified sums of money.
