The third-day adu’a for Hajia Mariama Bawumia, the mother of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, took place in Walewale on Thursday (funeral prayers).
Hajia Mariama Bawumia died on Monday in Accra, and she was laid to rest in Walewale on Tuesday, in the presence of several dignitaries.

The third-day adu’a is crucial in Islamic custom for the dead, and a large number of officials from across the country and beyond participated in Walewale, just as they did for Tuesday’s burial ritual.

The ceremony was attended by Islamic religious leaders, including the 16 Regional Imams, clergy, prominent government officials, members of parliament, and Ghanaians from all walks of life.
The service began with recitations of the full chapters of the Holy Qur’an to ask Allah’s mercy and favours for the departed Hajia Mariama, with Vice President Bawumia, his wife Samira, his siblings and family members sitting in state.
