Some locals in the Ashanti region’s Ejisu Municipality are outraged by a risky scene involving a heavy-lifting machine transporting lumber in a busy traffic crossing on the Ejisu-Kumasi route.
On Tuesday, January 25, the log-lifting machine put passengers in risk, including students on a school bus, as the driver negotiated his way around in an attempt to transfer the log.
At the scene, traders and motorists were in a frenzy.
According to residents, a timber-carrying truck’s tyre burst, requiring the logs to be offloaded onto another truck.
When a heavy-lifting machine attempted to raise a log from one end of the road to the other, the situation became weird.
As the log-carrying equipment sped through the busy junction, traders and commuters panicked.
Isaac Assuming, a truck driver, wants the government to regulate timber transportation appropriately.
“What happened might be devastating; the government needs to call them to order; they can’t keep transporting wood in decrepit trucks,” he said.
The Ejisu Municipal Assembly says it’s working with the police to figure out what transpired so that appropriate consequences may be imposed.
