Akufo-Addo has expressed his condolences following the death of former Black Stars player Christian Atsu.
Atsu, who played for several clubs including Everton and Newcastle United, passed away as a result of the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey.
The president recently visited the family of the late footballer.
He spoke of his admiration for the player’s talent, revealing that he was a huge fan of Atsu during his playing days.
“The young man we are all mourning is an exceptional athlete, a gift to our nation, and those of us who are football fanatics which I count myself as one spent a lot of time admiring him and his exploits on the field,” he said of Atsu.
The president further assured the family of the State’s assistance for a befitting burial.
