The UEFA Champions league winners have added another trophy to their trophy cabinet after beating Spanish side Villareal in Belfast in the super cup match. The match ended in a 1 goal draw with goals from Hakim Ziyech and Gerard Moreno before Chelsea won on penalties after the extra time produced no goals.
This a trophy that Chelsea had failed to win in their last three appearances with defeats to Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and more recently Liverpool.
Kepa was the hero of the match after saving two penalties ensuring Chelsea wins 6-5 with Kai Havertz the only player to miss for Chelsea.
In other news, Antonio Rudiger who played a key part in today’s win in effect has made his 150th Chelsea appearance. In a press conference before the match, he disclosed that he has started contract talks with the club.
